MONDAY Nights in Cardiff:
Greyfriars Road is without doubt the busiest area for nightlife on a Monday night, in fact this strip of bars and clubs is busier on a Monday night than on a regular Saturday. This is particularly due to the successful student nights at Tiger Tiger and Oceana. Many students begin their warm up at either Varsity on Greyfriars Road or The Crockerton (Lloyds no.1 bar) also on Greyfriars, before heading to either venue or sometimes both!

In September 2006 Vodka Island arrived in Cardiff from national promoters Rough Hill, who have proven to be a dominant force in the city ever since. Following the closure of Creation Nightclub in December 2006, Vodka Island Mondays saw ridiculous queues and even after the new Oceana Nightclub opened in 2007. In January 2008 it had one of the biggest queues for a weekly student ever witnessed stretching from its doors to the other end of Greyfriars Road by Oceana. During the 2008/2009 academic year this night has been a little less congested, some have attributed to this to the launch of Rough Hill's Chic Beat on Tuesdays at Vodka Revolution. There is a part refurbishment planned in 2009/2010 for the venue which is set to include a disco room, in 2008 a previous part refurbishment saw Lucky Voice Karaoke arrive creating several private Karaoke rooms in the venue.

TUESDAY Nights in Cardiff:
Tuesday nights have increased in popularity during the past term, partly due to a new destination on a Tuesday - Chic Beat.

Chic Beat @ Vodka Revolution Cardiff 9-11 Castle Street, Cardiff CF10 1BS (Map) | Tel: 029 2036 689 (Venue) / 0844 800 9434 (Promoter) Promoter: Rough Hill Venue Capacity: 1050 Music Policy: Old Skool Hip Hop & Funk (Downstairs), Dirty Electro & House (Upstairs Club), Opening times: 9pm-2am Entry: £4 Venue website | Facebook Group | E-tickets Event history: Vodka Revolution sprung into the student scene in January 2008 with a Wednesday night which still continues, however in September 2008 Chic Beat arrived quickly becoming the most sought after student night of 2008/9 with tickets often being touted on Castle Street corner!! It reputable music policy distinguishes it from the usual cheasy typical nights, with its resident Club DJ Royce Jenkins having played many warm up sets for big name DJs like Eric Prydz and many others. Its most successful themed nights include its UV Raves and Laser Parties would have become almost legendary in the Cardiff student nightlife scene.

WEDNESDAY Nights in Cardiff:
Traditionally the night when all the sports teams from the Athletic Unions go out after an afternoon of training, matches and tournaments! Within the past year the students union has seen a number of its internally promoted nights flop in attendance on this night, including its Rubber Duck and Spin brands, its current brand Sin Bin is however holding out.

THURSDAY Nights in Cardiff:
Fewer student nights are now held on this day of the week, for what was the crown of all days for student nights out in Cardiff however the ones that have stayed are consistently appealing.

"They said Cardiff had lost it...the glory days of clubbing were over...and that people simply weren't up for it anymore. In 2007, all this changed C-Y-N-T opened it's doors and there was a scream of relief from frustrated kids who finally had somewhere to rock out to jacked up itchy glitchy electronic beats" (C-Y-N-T.com).

FRIDAY Nights in Cardiff:
Lush @ Cardiff Students Union is the only commercial student night on a Friday, for the more alternative niche genre one off events check out our event listings. Many Students are also finding the chain destinations offering competitive drinks and entry prices on a Friday in town.

SATURDAY Nights in Cardiff:
Come Play @ Cardiff Students Union is currently the only destination on offer.
